The state of Georgia dedicated a special highway this week to multi Grammy award-winning vocalist, author, actress and restaurateur, Gladys Knight. The legendary Motown singer, who is affectionately known as the “Empress of Soul,” was in attendance along with her famous brother, Merald “Bubba” Knight, and a host of family members and close friends. The event took place at the Senate Chambers of the State Capitol.

Heart to Heart with Dr. Alduan Tartt returns Tuesday evening June 9 at 6pm with a look at healthy relationships in the aftermath of domestic violence.

Dr. Tartt will be joined by Life-Coach Tamik0 Lowry-Pugh and domestic violence survivor Kimya Motley.

They’ll talk about overcoming domestic violence and letting ‘the rest of the story’ be ‘the best of the story.’ We’ll also feature your calls, live.

Natalie Cole called in to Midday Jazz on WCLK to talk with Rivablue. They discussed her upcoming June 26 Appearance at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on behalf of 91.9 WCLK. They also talked about ignoring the critics, her recent foray into Latin music, and the fact that WCLK listeners and members who are going to the concert better be ready for a lot of songs from her long history in music.

The 18th Annual Duke Pearson Summer Jazz Camp takes place M0nday-Friday June 8-12 at the Clark Atlanta University Park Street Music and Arts Complex. This camp, started by CAU Professor Dr. James Hardy Patterson in honor of his friend and colleague Duke Pearson, offers elementary through high school students a variety of approaches to performing jazz and other African American expressions.

Tenor Saxophonist Kamasi Washington's new release Epic is just that, a three-cd set of music that ranges from Debussy to Cherokee and back again, featuring his band Next Step, an orchestra, and a choir.
