I am happy to announce that we are making progress on The
More Jazz- Less Static initiative.But
first, thanks so much for your patience! We now have the results of our feasibility study which examined ways to
restore signal penetration to more people within our coverage area and
especially to those listeners who lost reception when we changed our antenna in
2001.We now have selected an option that can help
us in the very short term while we gather funds to support a move for the long
term solution.Based on the feasibility
results to make improvements expediently, WCLK will switch back to an omni
directional antenna with optimization to help us improve our signal for
thousands of listeners.
The process of re-outfitting our current antenna has already
begun. And over the next couple of
weeks, there will be testing and modeling of the antenna on a simulation tower
to see how well it performs. We will then select the pattern that will help us
best achieve our objective, of providing you with a clearer, more developed
signal.Once we select the ideal
pattern, we will optimize our signal. We
are just a few weeks away from the remounting of the antenna and have already
begun to apply for a construction permit with the FCC.It won’t be long now to restoring better
reception to lovers of Jazz 91.9 WCLK and ultimately providing new service for
thousands of others who would have listened if they had the ability to do
so.This, as we still raise money for a
more long term approach which is to move the antenna to a taller tower away
from the Clark Atlanta University campus, where buildings now impede our
service.
The “Vote for Jazz “campaign is so vitally important to this
effort as any, because every dollar raised supports our operations and allows
us to earmark funds for the matching funds needed to resolve our antenna
problems once and for all.We are ready
to put all that static behind us and move forward with a lot more Jazz for everyone to enjoy.Make your donation in this important campaign
from October 22-31, Vote for Jazz and make your vote heard loud and clear…because
members really do make a difference.
In keeping with the Jazz,
