I spoke with Atlanta Braves Director of Community Affairs, Ericka Newsome about their upcoming joint promotion with Fox Sports South to honor community heroes. Between now and July 22, you are encouraged to nominate a community hero to be honored by the Braves.
Ericka explained that honoree will be feted by the Atlanta Braves organization during Community Heroes Week August 16 - 19.
Ericka also shared information about the honorees at the Braves Heritage Weekend in May 2016. The event at the Center for Civil and Human Rights honored the following notable civil rights leaders:
Dolores Huerta - Labor Leader, Civil Rights Activist and Co-Founder of the United Farm Workers
Marc Morial - President of the National Urban League
Oscar Robertson - Former NBA player and Hall of Fame member
John Schuerholz - Vice Chairman, Atlanta Braves
