CAU Hosts African Heritage Studies Association Events October 25-27

The African Heritage Studies Association/AHSA is holding a series of events in and around Clark Atlanta University October 25-27 as a part of the organization's 2018 Conference, celebrating their 49th Anniversary. AHSA was founded in 1969 by Dr. John Henrik Clark, Leonard Jeffries, James Henry Turner, Shelby Lewis, and Asa Hilliard, among others. It was formed as part of a demand to changes in the Eurocentric approaches to African Studies and the resulting marginalization of African-descendant scholars. I was joined for a special CAU Now-Lifting Every Voice segment on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK by CAU's Darlita Moye and Gayle Watts, local planning co-chairs of this event, which will include events at AUC Woodruff Library and the Shrine of the Black Madonna among other locations. For more information about this event, click here or contact 404-880-6643.
