The Local Take-Inspiring Hope with Design For Our Veterans

We've covered various veterans issues as a matter of course Saturday mornings at 8am on The Local Take on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK. Last weekend I talked with Glennette Haynes, owner of Stephin Oubre Events and Interiors about their outreach to veterans and their families.

Haynes explains that after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, she wanted to give back to the community of veterans that defend our freedom.  She felt that she could inspire "Hope Through Design" by providing returning veterans and their families with a space that provided peace.

She created the Orphan Foundation and set a mission to help returning wounded veterans and those overcoming homelessness. She speaks about creating design that provides peaceful environments. She shares that they design spaces that decrease challenges for veterans with PTSD. She shares information on using colors to create peaceful environments.

I also spoke with Ms. Haynes about how anyone can use a designer, no matter their budget, for home design.
