The Local Take Talks Atlanta Black Theatre Festival October 3 - 6

Atlanta Black Theatre Festival 40 Plays in 4 Days

This week on The Local Take I speak with Toni Henson founder and executive director of The Atlanta Black Theatre Festival. The Festival is scheduled from October 3 - 6 at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center.   Toni shares with us how she came to establish the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, her love of theatre and how the festival continues to grow. When asked which is the not to be missed production, Toni explains that "you should pick a day, not a play."

TopTenZilla named the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival as one of the top 10 Theatre Festivals to visit around the world! Forty Plays in Four Days is still the driving force of this event. There will be drama, music and even staged readings.  Artist Gilbert Young will celebrate his 50 year career with a gallery talk. The Town Hall event hosted by yours truly each year will take place at 9:30am on October 4th with "Chicken and Waffles."

The closing performance will feature Atlanta's own Pearl Cleage with a production of her "The Nacirema Society Requests the Honor of Your Presence at Their Celebration of 100 Years."

So pick a day and join us at the 2018 Atlanta Black Theatre Festival.
