Anthony David

For close to two decades we've been supporting the music of Anthony David on Jazz 91.9 WCLK. His rootsy, acoustic soul & R&B sound has captivated the hearts and ears of our listeners and even those of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. He's back with a new record coming out September 21 on Shanachie Entertainment entitled Hello Like Before: The Songs Of Bill Withers and it's a return to his down home musical roots. I had the opportunity to sit with him recently and talk in great detail about this project.

Programming on Jazz 91.9 WCLK is made possible in part by Krimson Community Foundation, presenting their Night Under The Stars with The Nupes, Algebra Blessett, Anthony David, and Gritz & Jelly Butter. The event takes place from 6pm-10pm on Saturday, July 28 at Heritage Sandy Springs, 6110 Blue Stone Road NE. Proceeds from this event will help fund Krimson Community Foundation's scholarships and mentorship programs. Ticket information is available here, or call 678-516-5891.

Jazz  91.9 WCLK is teaming up with McDonald's for the "McCafe Fusion Sunday" on November 13 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Turner Hill Road McDonald's in Lithonia, GA. The event will feature live performances from some of the biggest names in Jazz and Soul music including:  Anthony David, Julie Dexter, Joey Sommerville and Phillippia.  The afternoon of music will also serve as a fundraiser for the Wheels of Dreams Youth Foundation, a community investment initiative of the Atlanta region Black McDonald's Owners Association (BMOA).

R&B/soul vocalist, Anthony David is making his theatrical debut this summer in Kevin Ramsey’s Chasin’ dem Blues: The Untold Story of Paramount Records.  Best known for his 2008 song “Words”, a duet with contemporary R&B singer India.Arie, David will play the role of bluesman, Blue. This is David’s first time working with Kenny Leon’s True Color’s Theatre Company.
