Dee Dee Bridgewater recently came off the road with the Monterey Jazz Festival On Tour, which features Saxophonist Chris Potter.  Potter steps out as a combo leader with his new release on ECM "The Sirens", which interpolates contemporary straight ahead jazz idiom to tell the musical story of Homer's 8th Century Epic "The Odyssey."

NPR and WBGO captured Potter at the Village Vanguard, playing the new record at its launch.

Jonathan Butler Joins Jay Edwards On Jazz Tones

Jonathan Butler is in town May 22 at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center as part of the Jazz Roots Series, performing with David Sanborn.  The South African guitar and vocal artist is known across the globe for his music and his spirituality.

Jay Edwards will talk with Butler about his music, his influences, and what fans and newbies alike can expect at the May 22 performance.

WCLK as we kick off June as Black Music Month with a special live performance of Cinnamon Tree by Esperanza Spalding.  This performance of Cinnamon Tree comes from Esperanza's return to the Austin City Limits program on PBS. Esperanza's performance can be viewed via Ovee on May 31 at 1:15pm EDT, and will be moderated by Nicole Sweeney from the Midday Jazz Swing on WCLK. Ovee is the new social screening platform that allows you to participate in a group, watching and discussing your favorite PBS and public television programs.

British Composer, Musician, Multi-Instrumentalist, Producer and Songwriter Paul Hardcastle has been laying down trance-like universal grooves since first topping the British the charts in 1985 with 19 .
