CHARACTERS: Type in Action explores the role of typography in social justice movements throughout history, shining a spotlight on the intersection of design and activism. It was co-created for MODA by renowned typographer and designer Tré Seals, founder of diversity-driven foundry Vocal Type, and design studio Civilization. The exhibition showcases the work of Seals, whose typefaces pay homage to social justice leaders and movements across the globe. "Characters" celebrates the enduring legacy of typography in amplifying voices and driving societal change, featuring works that highlight historical icons like Harriet Tubman, W.E.B. Du Bois, Eva Peron and Ruby Bridges.
