30 Runs in 30 Days Fall Challenge Begins October 1st

The 30 Runs in 30 Days Fall Challenge Begins on October 1, 2015. This loosely connected, disparate group of people from all over the world come together on Facebook each quarter to complete this challenge.

Joshua Pressley a former high school track and field athlete started this grassroots group in order to get people moving with camaraderie and support. As he explains, it all began with a running group at his church then a conversation with a colleague and a Facebook post.

Each quarter over 1000 people from Amsterdam to Atlanta sign up for the challenge. Each day for 30 days members complete a 2 mile run/walk or 4 miles cycling. You must capture your activity via mobile app (MapMyWalk, Fitbit, Pedometers, etc) or provide photographic evidence (readouts from treadmills, cycles, etc.) Then you post to the group's page.

Participants are at various levels with some completing only 2 miles and others completing 10 miles, it doesn't matter how you do it as long as you do.  Josh explains that this is about a lifestyle change. His research showed that it takes approximately 21 days to begin a new habit, so the challenge going for 30 days reinforces the habit.

After each quarter's challenge t-shirts for finishers are available with all funds raised going to local health related charity.
