April 13-15: The Dogwood Festival Annual High School Art Exhibition

3rd Place: Alex Ledbetter “I & Myself” North Atlanta High School Rachael Fleming, Instructor";s:

This week on The Local Take I spoke with Becky Raffalovich with Atlanta's Dogwood Festival about the Annual High School Art Exhibition. The 82nd Annual Dogwood Festival is taking place April 13 - 15 at Piedmont Park.  The festival will begin at 12noon on Friday, April 13 and run through  Sunday, April 15 at 6pm. WCLK will be broadcasting live from the festival on Saturday and Sunday April 14 and 15, so come by our tent and say hello.

Raffalovich explains that this year the exhibition will feature a diversity of art genres including drawings, graphics, jewelry, sculpture and more.

Becky speaks to the quality of art education available to many of the students who reside in Metropolitan Atlanta. Over 700 entries were submitted.  The young artists experience a "juried competition" similar to professional artists. They compete for prizes and the chance to attend classes offered by the sponsors.

She invites the public to participate in the exhibition by voting for the "People's Choice" award on Friday and Saturday. The winning artist will be awarded this prize at the festival on Sunday.

Keep you fingers crossed for great weather and bring the entire family to the 2018 Dogwood Festival.
