April 28: The Camellia Rose Links Presents Benefit Screening of MAYNARD

Saturday, April 21 on The Local Take on  Jazz 91.9 WCLK, I spoke with Lolita Jackson about the Camellia Rose Links presenting the documentary film MAYNARD at a fundraiser for graduates of Maynard Jackson High School.   The Camellia Rose Links invites everyone to join them for the screening of MAYNARD at the Carter Center on  Saturday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Each screening will be followed by a panel discussion features people who knew and worked with Maynard Jackson.

Ms. Jackson shares with us that the fundraiser is to provide graduating seniors with scholarships for books as well as incidentals that they may need to continue their education.  She speaks about Maynard Jackson's life and the "game changer" that he became for not only Atlanta and Georgia but for the country as well.

Although his accomplishments may now be taken for granted, the documentary sheds light on what a transformative figure our first African-American mayor actually became for the nation.
