Black Women's Agenda and AARP Present Caregiving Forum May 17

The Black Women's Agenda Inc., in partnership with AARP, will host the Because We Care Forum on Saturday, May 17 at the Greater Smith Chapel A.M.E. Church at 183 Mayson Ave, NE Atlanta GA 30307.

This event is designed to provide resources to caregivers, and will take place from 9a until 1p on Saturday.  It will feature health, financial and legal experts sharing caregiving resources.  The event will also focus on how families can prepare for caregiving, when the time arises.

According to AARP's Public Policy Institute, Approximately 65.7 million people – roughly one-third of the U.S. adult population – are providing care to someone who is ill, disabled or aged. They provide unpaid care valued at over $450 billion and approximately twice the total for paid services and supports, according to AARP's Public Policy Institute.  Among African-Americans, more than half of family caregivers find themselves "sandwiched" between caring for an older person, and a person under age 18, or caring for more than one older person.

If you would like to RSVP for this helpful forum, call 888-902-3011, extension 9560.
