If one didn't know better, this could be interpreted as the Atlanta-based Jazz musician's theme song. Anytime Joey Sommerville picks up his trumpet and begins to play you know the music will be hot and the listener will have fun. However, in this case it's his take on the Sylvester Stewart (Sly and the Family Stone) classic Hot Fun In The Summertime.
Joined by fellow musician and hit maker in his own right Marion Meadows, the two deliver a one-two punch that provides a song perfect for the end of the Summer. You can hear Joey's latest on Jazz 91.9 WCLK at various times including during Serenade To The City, late nights after Debb Moore on Jazz At Sundown.
David C. Linton is Jazz 91.9 WCLK Program Director and host of Serenade To The City, heard Monday-Friday at 10pm.
