The Local Take Features First Congregational Church, Salutes Rev. Dr. Dwight Andrews

This week on The Local Take I speak with Dr. Beverly Tatum about the upcoming gala to support First Congregational Church in downtown Atlanta. First Congregational is one of the oldest churches in Atlanta, celebrating 150 years. Rev. Dr. Dwight Andrews, their pastor, is celebrating his 40th year as the church's leader.

Dr. Tatum shares with us not only the rich history of the church but also the many ways the church continues to impact our community.

Dr. Tatum speaks to Rev. Dr. Andrews' support of young people, especially students from Georgia State and the Atlanta University Center.  The church provides food to students experiencing food insecurity. She also speaks about Rev. Andrews' desire to reach young people in our community and address their spiritual needs.

Dr. Tatum shares information about the church's First Friday Jazz Vespers service that allows people to worship culturally while they fellowship with members and visitors.
