The Local Take Talks AIDS WALK ATLANTA Sunday, September 29

This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturday morning 8am) I speak with Imara Canady with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation about Sunday's  AIDS Walk Atlanta.

Imara explains that onsite registration is taking place on Sunday, September 29th between 10am - 11am at Piedmont Park so if you aren't registered, just come on down to the park. You can walk or run the 5K (3.1 miles).

I ask if we are in a holding pattern where HIV/AIDS are concerned, he explains that the AHF has learned that you have to touch people and that one person by one person you can change behavior to stop the spread of this disease.

This is the 29th Anniversary of Atlanta's AIDS Walk and it is a celebratory event for all community members.  Families, young, old, straight, gay, trans, white, black, brown all types of people can participate in this event that will culminate in a Music Festival.

We all know that AIDS is not a LBGTQ disease it is a disease that strikes all people and one of the fastest growing groups is those age 12 - 25 according to Imara Canady.

The run/walk taking place tomorrow afternoon is a great chance to get out in nature with like minded folks to share in some exercise and hang out for the music.  Amara LaNegra, Eric Bellenger, Raheem DeVaughn and Atlanta's own MONICA are all scheduled to perform so even if you miss the race, come out for the music.
