This week on The Local Take I speak with Kevin James founder of the Atlanta Ice Cream Festival and Beverly Burks from the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority.
For the 7th year the Atlanta Ice Cream Festival will take place at Piedmont Park on Saturday, July 22 from 11am - 6pm. Kevin James explains why he decided to start the festival. He also mentions that there will be lots of ice cream along with games, prizes and lots of family fun.
The Atlanta Ice Cream Festival is a true celebration with various types of ice cream available. Everything is there including vegan ice cream, Italian gelato, dairy-free ice cream and good old fashion vanilla ice cream.
Beverly Burks joins the conversation to explain why the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority began sponsoring the Health and Wellness Pavilion at this event. She mentions that there will be free health screenings for Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, HIV and others. The first 500 participants to receive a health screening will get tickets for free ice cream and be entered into a drawing for a HP laptop computer.
