A Sample of Produce bought through the Food Buying Co-Op in South DeKalb

On The Local Take on WCLK I spoke with Wayne Early of the South DeKalb Improvement Association(SDIA) about a recently launched Food Buying Co-Op for the community. Early, who was trained as an economist, explains what a co-op is and how they work. He emphasizes that co-ops provide the community with an opportunity to work together towards a common goal.

He also shares that this endeavor will help community member access organically grown fruits and vegetables at affordable cost. This is done through bulk purchases from the West Georgia Farmers Cooperative, DeKalb Farmers Market and the Forest Park State Farmers Market.

For more information about the Food Buying Co-Op reach out to Wayne Early via email at Wayne@Early-Economics.com - There will be an organizing meeting for the South DeKalb Food-Buying Cooperative for August 21 , 2018 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the office at 3203 Glenwood Rd., Decatur 30036.
