The Local Take Talks Summerset Assisted Living with Mack Willis

Saturday morning on WCLK's The Local Take we welcomed back Mack Willis, founder of Summerset Assisted Living Center. We speak about families coming together for the holidays and realizing that it might be time to seek assistance for seniors in the family.

I ask what family members should look for to determine if assisted living is needed. Mack Willis speaks to seniors not being able to keep up with hygiene, take daily medicine and eating regularly. He shares a few anecdotes about families making the transition easier for resistant seniors and also about seniors who had been wondering when their family would provide additional support.

Summerset Assisted Living Center also has a respite program for short term care and a senior daycare service. They also want to be a resource center for families who need information about assisted living. Mack Willis shares information about services available to veterans as well as their widows, benefits that often go unused.

I ask about the day-to-day life of residents at his facility, he speaks to baby grand pianos and jazz music, three hot meals along with snacks, walking trails and community of people who are social and happy.
