This week on The Local Take, I'm speaking with Economy Jackson, the Asset Building Director with the United Way of Greater Atlanta. She will tell us about the 15th Anniversary of EITC Awareness Day, January 29, 2021. I've never heard of this day. EITC stands for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness.
I ask Ms. Jackson to tell our listeners what EITC is and why people don't know about this benefit?
There was mention in the materials about EITC day that people could file their taxes for free. Ms. Jackson elaborated that if your annual income is under $57,000.00 a year, you qualify for a tax provider from the United Way program VITA. VITA stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
Due to the pandemic, the United Way is inviting our listeners to participate in a virtual information session about the EITC tax benefit on January 29th from 11AM - 12PM.
