November 16: Urban League Equal Opportunity Day Dinner

This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturdays 8am) I speak with Nancy Flake Johnson, the President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta about their 58th Annual Equal Opportunity Day Dinner.  The Dinner Gala is taking place on November 16th at the Atlanta Hilton.  The event will honor individual who are committed to progress in Civil Rights and Economic Justice.

Nancy Flake Johnson shares a bit of the Urban League's history.  The Civil Rights organization started in tandem with the great migration of African Americans from the Jim Crow rural South to urban areas.  She explains that the Atlanta office opened in 1920 and will celebrate their centennial anniversary next year.

This year's honorees include Jasmine Crowe with their Trailblazer Award, Brian Banks with their Champion of Justice Award, and Congresswoman Lucy McBath with their President's Award.

For more information and tickets please reach out to Dottie Johnson at 404-659-6580 or djohnson@ulgatl.org
