Surviving Coronavirus--Stan Bryant, Unity Jazz Foundation

Stan Bryant Facebook

I recently spoke with Stan Bryant on Midday Jazz on Jazz 91.9 WCLK. Stan L. Bryant formed the Unity Jazz Foundation in 2014. It's a 501c3 nonprofit organization offering endowments, scholarships and awards to students seeking a career in the arts. As part of their work, Unity Jazz Foundation promotes concerts that have featured local and world renowned musicians including pianist, organist Doug Carn, vocalist Julie Dexter, Kam Showers, The Neo Renaissance Jazz Orchestra, Cedric Young and the Westlake Jazz Ensemble. All was going well with UJF until the Coronavirus Pandemic.  Not only is Stan stricken with the virus but also his two sons, daughter in-law and possibly his wife. Their story went from one of lifting up the arts to just trying to survive.

Rivablue is the host of Midday Jazz on Jazz 91.9 WCLK, heard Monday-Fridays 10am-2pm.

Gwen Redding, aka Rivablue, has hosted and produced jazz radio programs for more than 40 years. Starting first in Washington DC in the early 1980s, she established work on the air and behind the scenes that helped define jazz radio in the District.
