The Kansas City saxophone sound has helped define Jazz from the beginning, from Lester Young and Charlie Parker through to the 21st century.  Saxophonist Bobby Watson has continued the tradition as a player and music educator.  Many of you saw him perform at a WCLK show at The Rialto Center For The Arts a few years back.  Serenade To The City Host(and WCLK Program Director) Aaron Cohen is adding the latest release from Watson, Check Cashing Day to the night-time rotation.  The record is a political concept album, according to Watson it's "a commentary on where we've been, where we are, and where we need to go as a people, as a country, and as a global community."
