The Fort Mac Fall Festival at Fort McPherson kicks off this weekend.   On Saturday morning, October 24 at 7:00 a. m. on The Local Take we speak with Atlanta Council Member, Joyce Sheperd, about the many changes occurring in her district around Ft. McPherson.  

Council Member Sheperd explains that this is more than a festival.   In addition to live music, tours and vendors, the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority will be on hand to allow the community to have input into their redevelopment plans.

Of course one highlight of the festival will be to actually have access to Ft. McPherson.   This nearly 500 acre facility in Southwest Atlanta was in operation as a military base from 1885 until 2011.   The installation was home to a major unit of the Third U. S. Army as well as the headquarters of the U. S.  Army Forces Command (FORSCOM).   This unit is responsible for the command and control; and,  unit training and operational readiness of the active army. 

The community will come together on Saturday to be informed and to celebrate the new life of Fort Mac.   Join the fun from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., 1794 Walker Avenue SW, Atlanta, GA 30310 and add your voice to the installation's future.
