Premier Mark Brantley speaks about this home and its connection to the United State.

The Honorable Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis, joined The Local Take to speak about his home, the island’s culture, and an invitation to not only visit, but to invest in the economic development of the country. Consisting of two islands: Nevis and Saint Kitts are part of the Leeward Islands chain located in the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. The country gained its independence in 1983 and is considered one of the smallest sovereign states in the Western Hemisphere.

The Honorable Mark Brantley shares that Nevis is the twin island to St. Kitts, and while it may be bigger, Nevis is luxurious. The island is a celebration of Caribbean culture, unlike many islands which seem to duplicate Miami with USA businesses and fast food restaurants. He also speaks about Nevis connections to the United States, including America's original Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. and Award-Winning Actor Cicely Tyson.

I asked Brantley if it was difficult to travel to Nevis; he shared that often the places most difficult to get to are the best! The best thing about his twin island is that they are only 2 miles away from St. Kitts, and water taxis (ferries) take about five minutes to get from one island to the next.

For folks wanting St. Kitts' nightlife, this convenience makes it easy to enjoy.

Nevis has always been known as a place of quiet luxury. The Four Seasons opened its first Caribbean resort there. It’s also a destination for sports enthusiasts who take on the Channel Swim, an annual “open water” swim of 2.5 miles taking place next on April 10, 2027.

While tourism and its burgeoning film industry are industries that are growing, Brantley also speaks about entrepreneurial opportunities including investment citizenship.

For more information on Nevis.
