The Black Church

Jazz 91.9 WCLK is working with PBS to promote their documentary The Black Church-This Is Our Story, This Is Our Song, airing on WPBA or GPB at 9pm on February 16th and 17th. Last week we spoke with Dr. Juel P. Benson-Borders about Atlanta's historic Wheat Street Baptist Church, and on Saturday's show we're speaking Apostle Darryl Winston from Greaterworks Assembly in Atlanta.  I ask Apostle Winston how he came to the ministry and if he readily answered the call.

This week on The Local Take, we join forces with PBS to support the premiere of their documentary The Black Church.  I reached out to Wheat Street Baptist Church, which began in 1869. This church was led by the late Rev. Dr.  Williams Holmes Borders, Sr..  I speak with his daughter Rev. Dr. Juel Borders-Benson, who grew up in the historic Wheat Street Baptist Church.

Check out this weekend's edition of UPFRONT Inside Atlanta's Entertainment Industry. It features my conversations with acclaimed filmmaker D. Channsin Berry, rising teen filmmaker Temple Lester and singer-actress Deborah Joy Winans.
