New Music: Hiroshima-GrooveLatino

Nov 26, 2019

Hiroshima has been interpreting contemporary Jazz and incorporating traditional Japanese instruments since they were founded by Dan Kuramoto in Southern California in 1974. You've heard their music on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK through the years and the over 20 releases to follow they have maintained a distinctive groove that has seen them tour the world repeatedly. Their latest single release is Groove Latino, and you can hear it on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK. Arigato.

WCLK has just added the new release from Hiroshima called J-Town Beat.  The group, led by Dan Kuramoto, continues to make their own East Meets West contemporary jazz.

STORIES BEHIND THE SONGS--
J-TOWN BEAT

We generally like to start a new CD with a concept.  Some notion, vibe, title that creates a ‘through line’ through the project.  J-Town Beat, was really a concept conceived by our friend, Duane Ebata.  He was the driving force of the Japan America Theater in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo (J-Town) until his tragic passing from cancer.
