New music this week on Jazz 91.9 WCLK includes Keyboardist Brad Alexander's take on Yearning For Your Love. If music is the soundtrack of our lives, I’m in the second  phase. I’m not big on remakes, especially of songs I had a hand in making popular. As a young program director, I was among the first to find this song from the 1980 The GAP Band III album and play it like it was a single.

Canadian born award-winning Guitarist Rod Tardik is back with a vengeance, teaming up with Dave Koz for B Positive, a bright uptempo track from his 8th album Diversity, Vol. 2: Contemporary Funky Jazz(Guitardik Music).  Rod’s been making music for sometime now and he’s no stranger to the Billboard Jazz Chart’s Top 10.  This collaboration with Dave Koz will have position him nicely for a return to the Top of the Charts.

Dee Brown is following up his 2020 hit The Prize with another strong effort that on the first listen reminds me of a ConFunkShun song.  ConFunkShun was one of the great funk bands of the 80’s. On Love You Too, from his third album Deep Secrets(Innervision), Dee takes a quick turn to deliver another gem for today’s new school of Jazz lovers.  The song is up-tempo with a cool bridge and Dee’s playing some of his best guitar.

Guitarist Blair Bryant is back with a song just right for the season. B’s Bounce will have doing just that as this Midwestern born and raised artist lays down some smooth yet funky tracks. It's a cut where you can open the sunroof, drop the top and turn up speakers and cruise to some great Jazz music.

The title of Keith Slattery’s latest single It’ll Be Alright(Maxophone Music) kind of sums up what the world has been saying for the last year as we face the pandemic. As we enter 2021 with a vaccine in our midst maybe this song is timely.
