Jazz 91.9 WCLK

Join us Wednesday at 6pm for the March edition of Drive Time With Dr. Douglass on WCLK, our monthly common sense health conversation. March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Dr. Adrian C. Douglass, MD-FACP will be joined by Gastroenterologist Dr. Eric High, MD. They will answer your questions about how you can do the things for yourself to avoid these diseases. When should you have a colonoscopy? Can you eat in a way to avoid colon cancer? The doctors will take your questions live, on the air, Wednesday night at 6pm on Drive Time With Dr. Douglass.

Jacob Webb is an award winning producer, bassist, pianist and multi-instrumentalist from Newton, Kansas. As one half of the Contemperary Jazz group, The JT Project, he continues to produce as well as write music. Saturday morning at 8am on WCLK's The Local Take, I spoke with Mel Pender to wrap up our coverage of Black History Month. I asked him to describe what it was like growing up in Atlanta in the 1930s and 1940s in the South under oppressive conditions. He speaks about a police encounter and a conversation with is mother and grandfather.

Hosea Feed The Hungry & Homeless/Hosea Helps is Jazz 91.9 WCLK's non-profit partner. They have served over one million people since 1971. The organization was started by Civil Rights Icon Reverend Hosea Williams. They continue their legacy of service under the leadership of his daughter, Elizabeth Omilami. Together, WCLK and Hosea Helps have over 90 years of service to the Atlanta Community.

Programming on Jazz 91.9 WCLK is made possible in part by Monticello, located at 2000 Powers Ferry Road in Marietta. Monticello presents their Sunset Jazz Series on Saturday, February 29th with Keyboardist Marcus Johnson. Marcus has released over 15 albums and is the host of Catch The Flo, heard on Saturdays from 2pm-4pm on WCLK. Doors open at 5pm and showtime is 7:30pm. Dinner at Monticello features Southern-style cuisine with a Cajun twist. WCLK's Jamal Ahmad  will be your host for the show.
