Jazz At Sundown on WCLK

When you think of Jazz flute you may immediately think of Hubert Laws, Yusef Lateef and Bobbi Humphrey, who each made the flute popular within the Jazz world. Today the flute has three of Jazz’s hottest artists in Kim Scott, Ragan Whiteside and Athea Renee each scoring high on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Charts. In fact, as of this writing, Ragan’s latest single which is still climbing the charts is her 7th straight Top 10.

Guitarist Freddie Fox's new single My Crusade is a departure from his usual uptempo jamming sound found on last year’s Top it Off. It comes from his latest album Limitless. Freddie elects on this release to just play some soothing guitar with a hint of island flavor. This is one of those songs that will compliment whatever you may be doing. It’s perfect for middays when you’re at work or while you’re getting that early evening jog in.

New music this week on Jazz 91.9 WCLK includes Keyboardist Brad Alexander's take on Yearning For Your Love. If music is the soundtrack of our lives, I’m in the second  phase. I’m not big on remakes, especially of songs I had a hand in making popular.

Trippin N Rhythm Records

British virtuoso guitarist Roberto Restuccia returns with Arrival, the debut single from his forthcoming album With Every Turn (Trippin N Rhythm Records) produced by Oli Silk.  This mellow track sets the mood for well…the arrival of that special someone.

What happens when a saxophonist from New Zealand connects with a singer/songwriter/ guitarist born in Kinross South Africa and they interpret soul singer Anthony Hamilton?  You get Best of Me. I’m tough on cover songs, but this one’s in the pocket. Andrea Lisa has put her magic on Ralph Johnson’s Co-Swagit and contributed to Kirk Whalum’s Humanite.
