This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturdays 8am) I speak with representatives from the Joseph E. Lowery Institute For Justice and Human Rights. Alexandria Harris is a Change Leader and Nicholas Arosemena is a Change Agent. We discuss their Civic Engagement team which is promoting voter registration. Nicholas, a student at Morehouse College, shares with us that over 100 college students in metro-Atlanta are Lowery Institute Change Agents. The Joseph E. Lowery Institute For Justice and Human Rights presents I've Known Rivers, a theatrical and musical celebration of the life of Joseph E. Lowery, celebrating his 92nd birthday.  The event takes place Sunday, October 6 at 6pm at the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel on the Morehouse University Campus.

The event will feature Emcee Steve Harvey, special musical guest Jamie Foxx, and the Joseph E. Lowery Agent of Change Award to be given to Atlanta based filmmaker Tyler Perry.

The Clark Atlanta University Community today mourns the death of Mrs. Evelyn G. Lowery (CC, '46), who died early this morning, Sept. 26.  surrounded by family in her home.  Mrs. Lowery suffered a stroke Sept. 18; however, doctors released her from the hospital Wednesday to be with family.
