New Music: Keiko Matsui/Moon Over Gotham

Keiko Matsui has released over 28 records in an enduring Jazz career. Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK has played her music from the beginning. Her latest record Echo(Shanachie Entertainment) features an A List of accompanyists including Marcus Miller, Gretchen Parlato, Kirk Whalum, Robben Ford and Kyle Eastwood. We're currently featuring the single Moon Over Gotham. You can catch Keiko Matsui live as part of the Low Country Jazz Festival in Charleston over Labor Day Weekend.

April 11: Suite Jazz Series Presents Keiko Matsui

Programming on Atlanta's Jazz Station is made possible in part by support from The Suite Food Lounge, home of the Suite Jazz Series. Presenting for one night only, Thursday, April 11-Keyboardist Keiko Matsui and The Suite Jazz Band. This event is featuring the release of her 28th recording, Echo. Matsui's keyboard style has seen her chosen to accompany Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Hugh Masekela and Bob James, among others. Doors open 6:30pm, with dinner and Jazz at 7:30pm. The Suite Food Lounge is located at 375 Luckie Street in downtown Atlanta.

Programming on  Jazz 91.9 WCLK is made possible in part by The Suite Food Lounge, located at 375 Luckie Street in Downtown Atlanta, with the Suite Jazz Series, this week featuring Composer Keyboardist, Keiko Matsui.  Her career spans four decades and over 20 record releases. Matsui appears live for the first time at Suite Food Lounge, Thursday night June 1.   Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner and Jazz begin at 7:30 p.m.

Pianist and Composer, Keiko Matsui celebrates 30 years of recordings with her new release on Shanachie Entertainment, Journey To The Heart. This record has a more acoustic sound than previous releases, and includes a strong Cuban influences with Bassist Carlitos Del Puerto and Drummer Jimmy Branly. You can hear cuts from Journey To The Heart at various times on  Jazz 91.9 WCLK in particular during Serenade To The City, Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.
