If one didn't know better, this could be interpreted as the Atlanta-based Jazz musician's theme song. Anytime Joey Sommerville picks up his trumpet and begins to play you know the music will be hot and the listener will have fun. However, in this case it's his take on the Sylvester Stewart (Sly and the Family Stone) classic Hot Fun In The Summertime.

The Suite Jazz Series presents for one night only Thursday, February 28--Saxophonist Marion Meadows accompanied by The Suite Jazz Band. Meadows is a constant of the Contemporary Jazz format, going back to 1994's Body Rhythm. His current release on Shanachie Entertainment is called Soul City, and includes sessions with Atlanta's own Joey Sommerville and Norman Brown, among others.

Programming on WCLK is made possible in part by Wade Ford, presenting The Wade Ford Summer Concert Series Jazz And Soul Event on Saturday, July 21 at Mable House Barnes Ampitheatre.
