Pre-School to Prison Pipeline

This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturdays 8am), I reached out to Professor Douglas A Blackmon about his seminal book  Slavery by Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II. The book was released in 2008 and awarded the Pulitzer Prize. PBS produced a documentary about the facts Blackmon documented in 2012.

This week on The Local Take, I speak with Pamela Perkins Carn from Ending Mass Incarceration Georgia Network (EMI-GA) coalition. EMI-GA is launching a TOOL KIT for use in fighting the Pre-School to Prison Pipeline. In the state of Georgia, this pipeline is too real. Our state has the highest number of people per capita under correctional control.  The pipeline starts with suspensions and expulsions in Pre-School and ends with Prison.
