Michelle is the only daughter of John and Alice Coltrane. She was born in Paris and experienced her formative years as a DJ in Japan, where she began to do voiceover work and then began singing.  Her new release on BluJazz Productions is called Awakening.

Colombian-born, New York City-raised Jay Rodriguez has earned multiple Grammy nominations playing flute, saxophone and clarinet on various records and stages over the years. He is a graduate of the famed New York City High School. Over the years he has accompanied and shared the state with, among others, Phil Woods, Tito D'Rivera, Michael Henderson, Modeski Martin & Wood, Tupac Shakur, Isaac Hayes, The Roots, B.B. King, Clark Terry, and Wynton Marsalis.

Azar Lawrence-Elementals

Saxophonist Azar Lawrence has played as sideman for McCoy Tyner, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, and Woody Shaw. Lawrence was the tenor saxophonist Tyner used following John Coltrane's death. He has also played on record with Earth Wind & Fire and Marvin Gaye, among many others. His latest release on High Tone Records is called Elementals, and features Benito Gonzales, Jeff Littlejohn, Marvin "Smitty" Smith and Munyungo Jackson.

North Carolina-born Lawson Rollins is a classical guitarist and world musician of renown, whose music has been featured on Jazz 91.9 WCLK for years.   He has a new greatest hits collection out on Infinita Records which is a great place to catch up to his 21st century take on classical guitar.   Airwaves features a new song World of Wonder that we are featuring currently on Jazz 91.9 WCLK throughout the day, including during Serenade To The City, Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. 

Jason Marsalis continues to push Jazz vibraphone forward on Melody Reimagined: Book 1 with his 21st Century Trad Band, just released on Basin Street Records. Jason is the youngest Marsalis, but he's also an NEA Jazz Master. For this record Marsalis is joined by the Trad Band--Austin Johnson on piano, Will Goble on bass, and Dave Potter on drums. He's also joined by guests including his Father Ellis and brother Delfeayo.
