The SOUL of Jazz on WCLK

Brian Simpson & Steve Oliver release a new single from their album Unified(Shanachie Entertainment).  The Road Never Ends is a mid- tempo soothing song featuring Brian’s noticeable keyboard/piano strokes complimented nicely by Steve’s well known guitarist licks. Rounding out the ensemble is Alex Al on bass, Eric Valentine on drums and Roman Yslas on percussion.  This is the kind of song that will compliment any activity, like your afternoon ride with Jamal Ahmad, host of the SOUL of Jazz daily from 2p-7p on Jazz 91.9 WCLK.

I recently penned a tribute to the late Andre Harrell for Soultracks, the biggest website devoted to Soul Music. You can read it here. If you are a fan of old school legends like Heavy D & The Boyz, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Teddy Riley & Guy, Al B. Sure!, Mary J. Blige, Eddie F., Dave Hall, Jodeci, Father M.C., you probably heard them thanks to Harrell.

Programming on Jazz 91.9 WCLK is made possible in part by Ken Ford, LLC, presenting Ken Ford's New Year's Eve Concert and After Party taking place on Tuesday evening, December 31. Entertainment features Ken Ford, The King of Strings, with special guest Guitarist Norman Brown and Vocalist Phillippia. They will play live as the New Year arrives. WCLK's SOUL of Jazz Host Jamal Ahmad will be your host for this event.

Watkins Funeral Home, presenting A Taste Of West End on Saturday, September 28 from 6pm until 10pm at Howell Park, located at 983 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, SW. The event will feature live entertainment with Joey Sommerville and special guests. Food and beverages will be available from food trucks and Atlanta's Historic West End Neighborhood businesses and vendors. Taste of West End will be hosted by Jamal Ahmad, host of The SOUL of Jazz on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK.

Blue Note Recording Artist Kandace Springs' music has had a home on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK from her very first recordings. She's been by the station a few times, and has family in Atlanta. We're all happy with her ongoing success. She is the final performer of the weekend on the Oak Hill Stage at the 42nd Atlanta Jazz Festival tonight at 7:30pm. As always, this event is open to the public. So come on down and dig one of the up and coming singer-songwriters contemporary Jazz has to offer. Kandace called up Jamal Ahmad to talk about her career, and her AJF performance.
