New Music: Steve Cole/Gratitude

Chicago born and raised Saxophonist Steve Cole's ninth solo record Gratitude drops this week on Artistry/Mack Avenue Records. We've been playing Neo Sol on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK.  He was classically trained on clarinet before choosing to play Jazz saxophone. On Gratitude, Cole features his band including bassist Lamar Jones and drummer Khari Parker, along with guitarist Bernd Schoenhart, organist Ricky Peterson and horn players Trevor Neumann and Dan Levine.

Programming on Jazz 91.9 WCLK is made possible in part by the Suite Food Lounge, home of the Suite Jazz Series. Thursday, April 4, Suite Jazz Series presents Saxophonist Steve Cole. In addition to his work as a solo artist, Steve has performed or recorded with Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Boz Scaggs, Larry Carlton, Jeff Lorber, Jim Peterik, Freddy Cole, Cyrus Chestnut, and KDFM. He is a founding member of the Sax Pack, a sax trio including Marcus Anderson and Jeff Kashiwa. Doors open at 6:30pm, with dinner and Jazz at 7:30pm.
