Show Ability

This month is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and I speak with Myrna Clayton about a non-profit organization called Abel 2 that will host a Career Day for the differently-abled on Saturday, October 28th at 8AM at the Graves Elementary School in Norcross.  People with different disabilities will share information about their careers.

Additionally Abel 2 is producing Show Ability an event taking place on Monday, October 30th at the Auburn Avenue Research Library.  This event is open to the public.l Professional performers with disabilities will perform showcasing their abilities in the performance arts.

Often the audience doesn't even realize that these professionals are disabled.

Ms. Clayton speaks about the American Disabilities Act which is only 27 years old. She mentions that the standards are the very minimum that people with disabilities be able to enter the building and use the facilities. But what if they need to get on the stage?
