AUC Robert W Woodruff Library

Start Something: Activism and the Atlanta Student Movement records how students from Atlanta University, Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University), The Interdenominational Theological Center, Morris Brown College, Morehouse College and Spelman College joined forces to create the Atlanta Student Movement.  These students developed nonviolent boycotts, sit ins, picket lines and, marches that left Atlanta officials with no choice except to desegregate stores and public facilities. This exhibit also features the establishing of the Atlanta Inquirer, a newspaper that addresses issues in the African American community.

This art exhibit is on display at the Robert W. Woodruff Library in the Atlanta University Center through May 20.   I spoke with Library Records Manager, Karen Jefferson about why this exhibit is still vital to Atlantans in 2016.  For more information about this exhibit and other programs at the Robert W. Woodruff Library, click here.

Edleea Brewster is a Freshman at Clark Atlanta University. AUC Robert W. Woodruff Library assisted in this report.
