Saturday morning on WCLK's The Local Take I spoke with Rev. Dr. Dwight Andews of First Congregational Church about their Annual Atlanta Music Festival taking place on Saturday, November 2nd, featuring the Fisk Jubilee Singers.

He speaks about the history of the Fisk Jubilee Singers who performed in the original Atlanta Music Festival in 1910.  This year the choral group will be joined by performers from the Atlanta Opera  and the Meridian Chorale.

The Fisk Jubilee Singers performed in London in 1871 and Rev. Dr. Andrews explains that this was following the Civil War and was revolutionary, as newly freed enslaved people were proving to the world that they were indeed human.
