This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturdays 8am) we are celebrating The Year of Return by sharing conversations with metropolitan Atlanta residents who participated with the Jamestown2Jamestown commemoration that took place in August 2019.

Our first conversation is with my room mate during the trip Carolyn Hyppolite. I spoke with Carolyn while still in Accra Ghana.

2019 was designated The Year of Return marking 400 years of African resistance and persistence in the United States.  From the first Africans that arrived in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619 to today.

Carolyn and I discussed our thoughts and feelings about participating in the Year of Return commemoration from Jamestown, VA to Jamestown Accra in Ghana.  This was the largest delegation  of over 250 people from across the United States.  Our conversation was recorded while we were still in Accra Ghana.
