Join me on Jazz Tones on Jazz 91.9 WCLK Sunday, September 16 from 3:00 p.m.until 7:00 p.m. I will feature an interview with Katie Thiroux. Thiroux, a bass player, hails from a musical family in Los Angeles, she has always been surrounded by music. Katie began violin lessons at age four then switched to acoustic bass at age eight. She has explored both classical and vocal styles.  She studied under Tierney Sutton at the age 12 and was awarded  the Phil Ramone Presidential Scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. A triple talent, Katie has garnered considerable attention for her bravura bass playing, assured singing and compelling compositions. Thiroux performed a 2 month residency this past summer at Quincy Jones new venue in Dubai Q's Bar, at the Palazzo Versace by Donatella Versace. Katie's latest release  is Off Beat.
