Jay Edwards Talks With Manhattan Transfer's Cheryl Bentyne About The Junction, Atlanta Appearance

Join me on Jazz Tones on Jazz 91.9 WCLK, Sunday, June 24 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. when my guest will be Cheryl Bentyne of the Manhattan Transfer.  Their new studio release is The Junction(BMG), and they will be appearing at Atlanta Symphony Hall on Friday, June 22 at 8:00pm. The Manhattan Transfer has been performing and making music for over forty years. The late Tim Hauser formed the group in 1969, and they explore a capella, vocalese, swing, Jazz and other forms of music.

Jay Edwards is a wizened veteran of Atlanta's Jazz Scene with an unforgettable voice and take on America's indigenous art form. He spent his formative years as a young man in Harlem where he listened and learned jazz from his Aunt and his cousin. As a child he babysat Billy Taylor's children at St. Mark's Grammar School.
