Cuban-American trumpeter/composer, Arturo Sandoval, has been an inspiration in the jazz world for over 50 years and his special brand of Afro-Cuban jazz has been a staple on Jazz 91.9FM as well. His work with the seminal band, Irakere and labels like GRP have earned him a reputation for being a true legend in the music. His life story was the subject of the HBO biopic, "For Love Or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story", starring Andy Garcia. He joined Jamal Ahmad and The S.O.U.L Of Jazz to talk about his illustrious career, his mentor Dizzy Gillespie helping him defect to the US, receiving the Presidential Medal Of Freedom and so much more.
