Atlanta's Jazz Station--Classic, Cool, Contemporary

Braxton Brothers: Catalina Nights

I remember my first month at WCLK one of the first artists to stop by to welcome me to this legendary station were the twin Braxton Brothers. I immediately thought having worked with R&B/Pop superstar Toni Braxton, “I didn’t know she had twin brothers”. Well, it happens these twins hail from San Francisco not B-More. When we first met in 2018, they were promoting their single The Only Woman in the World from the Higher album, a song Nelson wrote as a tribute to his wife. Now do not get it twisted, Nelson and Wayne have been playing music since they were 7 years old, both are classically trained musicians who released their first CD in 1996 with Stepping Out.

Subsequent releases have been what we call mid-charters; they do well but not “going all the way”. Well the wait is over, Catalina Nights is the one we’ve been waiting for to propel their careers. From the first note you’re in for special treat as Wayne’s saxophone and Nelson’s guitar meld together to take you on a ride to the beautiful Catalina Islands. This song has an infectious sound and groove that I believe can make it to the Top of the Billboard Jazz Charts. Nelson and Wayne have played with everyone from Michael Bolton to Sheila E. Now it’s really their time to shine; so enjoy the magic of Catalina Nights as you listen to the classic, cool and contemporary sounds you can only get from Atlanta’s Jazz Station.
