Join me for Jazz Tones on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK on Sunday from 3pm to 7pm. My guest will be Stefanie Batten Bland, choreographer and filmmaker. She is the daughter of Ed Bland, who produced the film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNv5l8KuoZw">The Cry of Jazz in 1959, a short film documentary that was a polemical essay on the politics of music and race. He was a filmaker, composer and arranger.  Stefanie is the Artistic Director of Company SBB, which is an inter-continental dance company that blurs physical defintions in order to create futuristic performance experiences for stage and  film. She has created nine films and her awards and fellowships include a 2019 NYU Center For The Ballet Arts Fellow, 2019-21 ABT Women’s Initiative Choreographer, 2016 Bessie Schonberg Choreography Fellow at The Yard, 2015 Kevin Spacey Foundation Artists Choice Awardee, Camargo/Jerome Foundation Choreographer for Zenon Dance Company - France, 2015 Alvin Ailey Foundation New Directions Choreography Lab Fellow, 2014 Joffrey Ballet Choreographer of Color, 2010-12 Baryshnikov Arts Center/Jerome Robbins NEW Fellow.
