In 2016 we first spoke with Dr. Kwesi deGraft-Hanson about The Weeping Time. This was the largest single sale of humans in American history, which took place in Savannah.  Since then, Dr. deGraft-Hanson has hosted commemoration ceremonies in Atlanta and Savannah.

On March 2, 2019 there will be a commemoration to mark the 160th Anniversary of The Weeping Time in Savannah, GA at the Otis Brock Elementary school which sits on the property where The Weeping Time took place.  The Local Take will participate and is inviting our listeners to join us as we travel to Savannah on March 1st.

A private motorcoach from Brock Travel and Tours will depart on the morning of Friday, March 1st.  Once we arrive in Savannah, Journey By Faith, owner Karen Wortham will conduct a historical tour.

On March 2nd we will travel to the Otis Brock Elementary School for the official Weeping Time commemoration. Immediately following we will travel to Brunswick, Georgia to the Gilliard Farm and home of celebrity Chefarmer Matthew Raiford and Jovan Sage owners of The Farmer and The Larder for a historically accurate luncheon featuring a low country boil along with special treats including drinks.

Tickets will be available for transportion, hotel accomodations, history tour, and Gilliard Farms luncheon on Eventbrite.
