I recently had the chance to interview the great Pianist-Producer-Songwriter Jeff Lorber on The SOUL of Jazz on WCLK. This man is such a legend it's crazy. He was the first cat to put on folks like Kenny G, Eric Benet, Dave Koz and Karen White. He's like a hidden A&R guy. He recorded with Chick Corea, Joe Farrell and Freddie Hubbard while in his 20s. Plus he's been sampled by too many folks to mention. I love when he tells the story of hearing his song Rain Dance being sampled by Junior Mafia, Lil Kim and Notorious B.I.G., and to hear him say that Kodak Black just sampled him was both funny and impressive lol. He even talks about making the music for the classic video game Castlevania with Gerald Albright(who knew?). Enjoy the interview. I'll play Delevans off of his first solo record It's A Fact on the Saturday night edition of The SOUL of Jazz,
6pm-9pm.
