We finish off our conversations with the 2022 Clark Atlanta University Mandela-Washington Fellows by talking with Chloe, an advocate for LBGTQ rights in her country of Burundi. Some think the rights of this community are under fire in our country, and they might be right.

In Burundi, same-sex activity by both men and women is criminalized with a penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine. Additionally, LGBTQ persons are regularly arrested by the government and face stigmatization among the broader population.

Chloe is the Community Exchanges and Events officer at MOLI (Movement for Individual Freedoms). She plans and runs community events and group discussions virtually and in person for the LGBTQ+ community at the regional level. As an educator and entrepreneur, she supports MOLI (Movement for Individual Freedoms) members with education, awareness, and safety training. She believes entrepreneurship can help society find solutions to cultural challenges. She speaks about entrepreneurs hiring and making decisions that can impact the community as a whole. Her focus will always be on education and inclusion.

Chloe shares that her country Burundi is beautiful, and they are known for their fish and drums.
