CAU Now-Lifting Every Voice Supports Mental Illness Awareness and NAMI Walks Georgia Event October 6

CAU Now Lifting Every Voice for September aired on Saturday morning at 8:30 on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK  and featured a conversation about the upcoming NAMI Walks Georgia taking place on Saturday, October 6. NAMI is the National Alliance On Mental Illness. This event begins at Panther Stadium with check in at 8am, with the 5k walk to the State Capitol and back beginning at 9:30am. This year's walk features co-chairs Brenda Wood and GBI Director Vernon Keenan. Special CAU Ambassadors are Jason and Yolanda Head, parents of fallen CAU Panther Jordan Head, who took his own life but is not forgotten. This walk is designed to bring awareness of mental illness and mental health issues, help to end stigmas and stereotypes, and features participants including the general public in addition to the CAU and AUC communities.

Our guests for this edition of CAU Now Lifting Every Voice included NAMI Georgia Executive Director Kim Jones, Associate Dean of The CAU-Whitney M. Young, Jr. School of Social Work Dr. Margaret Counts-Spriggs, and CAU Associate Dean of Students Ernita B. Hemmitt.
